Kathleen Burke, ASN, RN, IBCLC

Kathie grew up in upstate New York and attended Russell Sage College in Albany New York where she obtained an Associates in Applied Science and a RN degree. She worked at St.Peter’s Hospital as a labor and delivery nurse for decades, supporting mothers and families through their labor, births, and beginning breastfeeding. She then decided to obtain her education in Lactation through the Healthy Children Project, INC Center for Breastfeeding, becoming a Certified Lactation Counselor first then becoming an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant in 2010. Kathie continued teaching and supporting chest feeding parents and their families in St. Peters Hospital, the Burdett Birth Center of Troy N.Y. and finally at Breastfeeding Savvy Clinic in Clifton Park N.Y.

Kathie has always been fascinated and drawn to everything: babies, mamas, and birth. She is blessed with 3 children of her own and had beautiful births and nursing journeys. She then was blessed with bonus kids from her spouse, and 10 grandbabies – Many of whom that she had the privilege of sharing in their birth and breastfeeding experience. 

In Kathie’s downtime, she really enjoys her family, friends, music, guitar, plants/gardening, the gym, cooking/eating, sunshine, and the ocean. She especially enjoys animals and learning about her patients’ pets. She is a true dog lover! She is thrilled to be here in Delaware and at The Birth Center where she is teaching breastfeeding class, facilitating a support group, and seeing clients for private consultations. Kathies is looking forward to meeting you and helping with your needs.
