The Child Birth Full Series Class is ideal for first-time parents having an out-of-hospital birth. Taught by our registered nurses, this an in person course within three weeks will teach you how to cope with labor, what to expect during labor, and how to prepare your home and life for postpartum and Newborn care. You will also be able to socialize with other birth center families and create a network of friends. The Ideal time to take this class is between weeks 28-34.

Now for the Live Classes:

Week 1 Class 1: Labor Review and Rehearsal- In the Classroom at The Birth Center.

During class, the mom and her partner will learn focus, breathing, positioning, and positive thinking to prepare to give birth naturally. We will have a labor rehearsal to practice what you must do when you go into labor, breathing techniques, different positions, and ways to cope with labor. This is a hands-on portion where you will move, and Activewear is encouraged. Please bring your Labor Go bag to review what you have packed.

Week 2 Class 2: Postpartum, What Happens if You Are Transferred, and a Birth Story- In the Classroom at The Birth Center.

Review what the postpartum period may be like and how to be prepared. Also, learn about the interventions couples may encounter when giving birth in a hospital. This piece will help you to be ready for the unlikely event of a hospital transfer from The Birth Center. To conclude the series, a Birth Center family will join us to share their birth story.

Week 3 Class 3: Caring for Your Newborn: – In the Classroom at The Birth Center. 

Learn the skills you need to be confident in caring for your newborn: swaddling, diapering, bathing, dressing, nail care, comforting a crying baby, safety, and much more! Please have a stuffed animal or baby doll, diaper, and swaddles/ baby blanket in your home to use during the class.

This series will run as follows:

1. September 3rd: Labor Review and Labor Rehearsal
2. September 10th: What Happens if You Are Transferred, Postpartum, and a Birth Story
3. September 17th: Caring for Your Newborn
