Childbirth Full Series: Healthy Birth – December 7th, 2023

$185.00The Child Birth Full Series Class is ideal for first time parents who are choosing to have an out of hospital birth. Taught by our registered nurses, this hybrid course will teach you ways to cope with labor, what to expect during the labor process, how to prepare your home and life for postpartum, and Newborn care. You will also be able to socialize with other birth center families and create a network of friends. The Ideal time to take this class is between weeks 28-34.

Three Pre-Recorded videos to watch prior to attending the first in person class: These will be sent to your email prior to the first class.
Prelude and the First Stage of Labor (Pre-Recorded)
Learn about the mechanics of labor and the movements a baby makes as he/she moves into the pelvis and prepares to be born. We will also review the first stage of labor and what mom will be feeling during each phase. Relaxation and breathing will be practiced to help the mom-to-be cope with the discomforts of labor.
Second Stage of Labor and Delivery (Pre-Recorded)
You will learn about the mechanics of labor and birth and the movements a baby makes as he/she moves into the pelvis and prepares to be born through the pushing phase and delivery. We will also review the second stage of labor and what mom will be feeling. The delivery of the baby will also be covered in this class!
Postpartum (Pre-Recorded)
What happens after labor and delivery? This class will review the minor and major changes that come along with having a new baby. Caring for yourself during the postpartum period, coping with crying, and organizing your time are all reviewed.
Now for the Live Classes:
Class 1: Labor Review and Rehearsal- In the Classroom at The Birth Center.
During class, mom and her partner will learn focus, breathing, positioning, and positive thinking to prepare to birth naturally. We will have a labor rehearsal to practice what you need to do when you go into labor, breathing techniques, different positions, and ways to cope with labor. This is a hands-on portion where you will be moving, Activewear is encouraged. Please bring your Labor Go bag with you to review what you have packed.
Class 2: Postpartum, What Happens if You Are Transferred, and a Birth Story- In the Classroom at The Birth Center.
Review what the postpartum period may be like and how to be prepared. Also, learn about the interventions that couples may encounter giving birth in a hospital. This piece will help you to be prepared for the unlikely event of a hospital transfer from The Birth Center. To conclude the series a Birth Center family will join us to share their birth story.
Class 3: Caring for Your Newborn: Virtual- Zoom link will be sent to your email.
Learn the skills you need to be confident in caring for your newborn; skills such as swaddling, diapering, bathing, dressing, nail care, comforting a crying baby, safety, and much more! Please have a stuffed animal or baby doll, diaper, and swaddles/ baby blanket in your home to use during the class.
