Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and a lot of people celebrate by giving chocolates and flowers. But some people like to get creative and make homemade crafts to give to their loved ones, often with their kids helping. Crafting together is a fun way to make awesome memories while having a blast. I remember how much fun I had making special gifts for my mom during this time. Back in elementary school, we used to make little paper gifts to share with our family on Valentine’s Day.
Here are some fun and creative activities you can do with your kids this Valentine’s Day! There are lots of options that even little ones under a year can enjoy. Check out these ideas to surprise your partner or just have a blast together as a family!
1. Hand and Feet Painting
Supplies:
- Washable paint (colors of pink and red)
- A design that you want (below are some examples of Designs)
- Paper
- Sharpie
Instructions:
Once you’ve selected your desired design, begin by applying washable paint to the child’s hand or foot. Once it’s fully covered, press their hand or foot onto the paper like a stamp; you may need to hold it in place for about 10 to 20 seconds. Then, gently lift the hand or foot away from the paper to reveal a handprint or footprint. Repeat these steps based on the design you’ve chosen. After you’ve finished painting, clean the child’s hand or foot with soap and water or baby wipes. Once your little one is all cleaned up, you can start adding phrases to the paper with the Sharpie.
- Baby Heart Art Work
Supplies:
- Washable Paint (any colors)
- Paper in a Heart Shape
- Large Ziploc Bag
- Sharpie
Instructions:
Begin by adding drops of paint onto the heart-shaped paper, then place the paper inside a sealed Ziploc bag. Ensure that the bag is completely closed. Allow your baby to explore the bag, moving the paint around to create a lovely masterpiece. Once your little one has finished playing, carefully remove the paper from the bag and let it dry. After it has dried, you can use a Sharpie to write a phrase that captures this special moment.
