Get Safe, Pain-Free Relief
During pregnancy, there are several physiological and endocrinological changes that occur in preparation for creating the environment for the developing baby.
The following changes can result in a misaligned spine or joints:
- Protruding abdomen and increased back curve
- Pelvic changes, especially in second, third and fourth pregnancies
- Postural adaptations, due to weight changes
Establishing pelvic balance and alignment is another reason to obtain chiropractic care during pregnancy. When the pelvis is misaligned it may reduce the amount of room available for the developing baby. A misaligned pelvis may also make it difficult for baby to get into the best possible position for delivery. This can affect the mother’s ability to have a natural, non-invasive birth. Breech and posterior positions can interfere with the natural ease of labor and lead to interventions such as c-sections.
What are the benefits of chiropractic care during pregnancy?
- Maintaining a healthier pregnancy
- Controlling symptoms of nausea
- Reducing the time of labor and delivery
- Relieving back, neck or joint pain
- Preventing a potential cesarean delivery
What about chiropractic care and breech deliveries?
This balanced state in the pelvis has been clinically shown to allow for optimal fetal positioning. The technique is known as the Webster Technique. It is considered normal by some for a baby to present breech until the third trimester. Most birth practitioners are not concerned with breech presentations until a patient is 37 weeks along. The Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics reported an 82% success rate of babies turning vertex when doctors of chiropractic used the Webster Technique.
Further, the results from the study suggest it may be beneficial to perform the Webster Technique, as soon as the 8th month of pregnancy, when a woman has a breech presentation. Currently, the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA) recommends women receive chiropractic care throughout pregnancy to establish pelvic balance and optimize the room a baby has for development throughout pregnancy.
With a balanced pelvis, babies have a greater chance of moving into the correct position for birth, and the crisis and worry associated with breech and posterior presentations may be avoided altogether. Optimal baby positioning at the time of birth also eliminates the potential for dystocia (difficult labor) and, therefore, results in easier and safer deliveries for both the mother and baby.
Chiropractic for Children
Chiropractic’s purpose is to remove interference to the natural healing power running through the body. When that power is unleashed the healing that results may be profound. We find more parents bringing their children to chiropractors for day-to-day health concerns we’re all familiar with: colds, sore throats, ear infections, fevers, colic, asthma, tonsillitis, allergies, bed-wetting, infections, pains, falls, stomach-aches, and the hundred and one little and big things children go through as they grow up.
Chiropractic Life – For all Adults
The human body naturally wants to be in balance, healthy, and working at one hundred percent all of the time. Unfortunately, things can go awry and the body is then inhibited in its healing capabilities. Some of these inhibitors include:
- Physical stressors such as falls, sports injuries, and auto accidents.
- Environmental stressors come in forms of toxins in the food we eat, the water we drink, even the air we breathe every day
- Emotional stressors which can come from family health issues, unstable financial situations, long work days, and business of overscheduling ourselves and our children.
All of these stressors interfere with our body’s innate balance and intelligence. Our bodies are created with an inherent ability to adapt and heal oneself. This innate intelligence works within the body through our nervous system. The nervous system is the communicating system for the entire body, while the brain regulates our homeostasis, our natural balance. The nervous system needs to function properly in order to ensure whole body healing and adaptability to life’s stressors. But what happens if the stress we meet each day throws off our balance, injures our nervous system, or deters the body from doing its job?
That is where Chiropractics come in!
Chiropractic adjustments free the spine from those stress points, allowing the body to communicate and heal better. By alleviating subluxations, chiropractic care can help your body heal itself from the inside-out, as well as help to maintain your innate homeostasis for a better and healthier life. Let your chiropractor help your body do what it wants to do, naturally!
