 Tour

We offer free tour and orientation sessions every other Wednesday at 7pm. Call (302) 658-2229 to make a reservation. If you are unable to attend these evening sessions, we will arrange a personal tour with you at your convenience.

The Birth Center is a three-story brick house located on a tree-lined street. We are distinguished from our neighbors by a small sign in the front yard.
As you walk up to the door, you pass through a garden with flowers and medicinal herbs.

Steps Away from St. Francis
St. Francis Hospital is located less than half a block from TBC. You can see how close it.

Welcom e
Florence is at her desk outside the waiting room, ready to greet you. She is the first face you will see every time you come to TBC.
The “waiting room” is lined with women’s health and pregnancy books from our lending library. There are toys and books to entertain children. Families are encouraged to come to your visits too.

Exam Rooms The first floor of TBC is our “office” space. We have two exam rooms.

The Water Birth Suite

We are thrilled to announce the addition of the water birth option here at The Birth Center! Through generous donations from volunteers, we were able to renovate the Pink Room to create a tranquil, serene environment to house our brand new birthing tub. We also completely renovated the pink room bathroom to include a stand-up shower with all new fixtures and tiling. View More Pictures Learn more about birthing in the water

Birth Suite
The second floor is our birth suite. You and your family have the entire space when you are in labor. There is a large living room with a working fireplace. The view of the Delaware Memorial Bridge at night is amazing.

The Kitchen
The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, plates, and utensils. You are required to drink during labor (and eat if you like) and eat a celebratory meal after the baby is born.

One of the Bathrooms in the Birth Suite
There are two bathrooms in the birth suite. One has a deep Jacuzzi and the other has a shower.

We Want You to be Comfortable
You choose which room you want for your birth. The birth rooms have hardwood floors and queen-sized beds with handmade quilts. All have rocking chairs, birthing stools, birth balls, and mirrors.

The Blue Room
The blue room is calming and serene.

The Yellow Room
The yellow room is bright and cheery.

Third Floor Classroom
The third floor is a large classroom used for childbirth classes, pregnancy yoga, and mother-baby group. We just finished renovations in January 2010!

New laminate flooring is covered with a new plush area rug for comfort when sitting on the floor. The chocolate brown curtains allow ample amounts of sunlight to warm the room.

The room is painted a bright and energizing, yet calming shade of green. Comfortable, newly covered pillows pair nicely with our refilled beanbags.

New cushioned, comfortable chairs store easily in the corner to keep the space open and airy.
